What To Do With a Degraded Hardwood Forest

This just come across my desk. The Auburn Cooperative Extension Service is presenting a seminar that may be of interest to you.

All of our forests have been managed in some manner through the years. Some have been treated well, and others not so much. Cutting the wrong tree at the wrong time results in a degraded forest. When a cattle farmer wants to improve his herd, he sells the poorest animals and then keeps the best for breeding. This procedure is the best way to manage your forests but in many cases, it doesn’t happen.

To help you oversee the forest management on your land, four agencies have put together this seminar. You will learn how to restore your forest to a healthy condition, and how to insure it remains healthy.

You can register by contacting Alabama Cooperative Extension System, 256-532-1578 for more information.

You may want to have an idea about the condition of your forest before attending the class. If so, call me and we can arrange a time to look at it. 256-527-4050; your.forester@mediacombb.net.
